Big Blue Embarassment
Another season in the books…

Another year, another late-season skid. Aside from that sweet taste of victory two years ago, the Giants have followed the same trend every year of the Coughlin-era. Start the season strong, lose a bunch of games in a row, choke their way out of the postseason. Although this year, we didn’t even have the hope of not falling apart during the postseason, because there was no playoffs for us. The Jets got in. At least one team out of Giants Stadium got in.

If the Yankees were this disappointing for several years straight, even with a World Series in between, Steinbrenner would never allow such pathetic coaching to continue. Girardi would be out on his butt. But not Coughlin. Not the Giants. Philly fans have been screaming for Andy Reid to be canned for years because he can’t win a Super Bowl. He’s been in about half the NFC championship games of the past decade, but no one in Philly cares. We’ve got a coach who won a Super Bowl. Wanna trade? If Andy Reid (assuming he didn’t keel over from eating too many cheesesteaks) had Eli Manning and that passing game to work with, Big Blue would be eight-time Super Bowl champs by the end of the next decade.

Instead Philly fans will want his head after he loses his 20-somethingth NFC title game, and Coughlin enjoys job security as Eli, Osi and the rest of the Big Blue Wrecking Crew sit home in January. I hate to be the guy that asks, “What have done for me lately?” But with a team that won the big one in spite of Coughlin’s efforts and not because of them, it is a question that must be asked.

How does a team go from Super Bowl champs to this trainwreck in two years? This crap would never fly in Philly, not with the Yankees, even the damn Detroit Lions decide to try a NEW losing strategy once in a while.
